A program to strengthen medicine and research leadership in Israel’s next generation

The Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, at the initiative of the Friends of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, received a NIS 2 million donation from the Edmond de Rothschild Foundation, which is harnessing itself to strengthen medical leadership in Israel. The goal of the donation is to fund a new program, Hila, which is intended to train the next generation in medicine and research, advance and develop medical leadership and excellence, and more. Over the past week, the Hillel Yaffe Medical Center has issued a public appeal to outstanding residents and interns to apply to the program.

The program was established with the belief that development of human capital at the Hillel Yaffe Medical Center will significantly influence medicine and the quality of care given to those going there for treatment, and this is its first group. Alongside the personal development and strengthening research and clinical excellence, the participants will gain abilities for coping with changes in the world of modern medicine and the changes in the character and mix of the community served by the medical center.

The Hila Program lasts for five years and is run by the Deputy Director General of the Medical Center, Dr. Dikla Dahan Shriki, and the Director of Gynecology and Obstetrics Department, Prof. Motti Hallak, and is supported by the Edmond de Rothschild Foundation, as part of its activity to promote values of excellence and leadership in Israeli society.

As part of the program, the resident will enjoy a personal and professional support bubble which includes study, workshops, lectures, project leadership, crystallizing a personal and professional vision, creating a professional and leadership focus track, and more. From the third year onwards, residents will be eligible for a scholarship fund of NIS 250,000, to be used for training, development, and execution of projects, research, and the resident’s personal development.
