The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science is a comprehensive women's medical center at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center which includes the High-Risk Pregnancy Unit, the Obstetrics Department, Labor and Delivery rooms, an obstetrics ultrasound service, a Gynecology and Onco-Gynecology Department, Gynecological Endoscopy, Urogynecology, Fertility and IVF department.
The Obstetrics and High-Risk Pregnancy Department
The Obstetrics Department treats all pregnant women, both low-risk and high-risk, and is skilled at early detection of pregnancy complications. The goal of the medical staff – which includes a skilled staff of specialists– is to achieve optimal results for both mother and child.
Placed under prenatal and obstetric monitoring and supervision, women receive prenatal counseling as well as fetal monitoring, ultrasounds and dietary counseling. Monitoring is recommended for women who suffer from pregnancy complications including diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, hypertension, etc. Women at risk for complications during pregnancy should begin follow-up before trying to get pregnant.
The Delivery Rooms
The Delivery Ward contains eight separate, spacious delivery rooms. Each room, which comes equipped with an adjustable electrical hospital bed and state-of-the-art equipment, functions as an independent treatment unit for mothers and newborns, where patients have the option of being treated using any combination of modern, natural, alternative, or conventional medicine. Care is taken so that pregnant women may deliver their babies in a relaxed, calm atmosphere.
Delivery room tours are conducted every Friday at 10:00 a.m. Advance registration is not required. Please meet at the Gynecology and Obstetrics ER.
Natural Childbirth Natural childbirth involves minimum external intervention, encourages the partner to be involved and enables the mother to choose her preferred childbirth position. We offer alternative treatment to alleviate pain such as reflexology, shiatsu and reiki. Alternative treatment, which is provided by the Alternative Medicine Center operating in the hospital, does not prohibit the use of conventional medicine – such as epidurals and local anesthetics.
Zero Separation Service
At the Hillel Yaffe Medical Center Maternity Department, women are offered the option of zero separation. This is a process in which a mother is allowed to remain with her baby continuously from the time of birth through discharge. It is one of many rooming-in options offered, if desired by the mother and contingent on the baby’s medical condition.
