Hillel Yaffe Medical Center rang in 2018 with a very special delivery, that of Dr. Hila Sharabi, a senior physician in the Hillel Yaffe Gynecology and Obstetrics Department, who is generally the one doing the delivering and performing ultrasound scans in the Obstetric Ultrasound Unit. Hila, who lives in Hadera, gave birth to her fifth daughter at 1:23 a.m. She weighed in at 2.650 kg.
As far as she was concerned, the birth was on time, but “fell” at a particularly convenient time, a week before her eldest son, who was also born at Hillel Yaffe, would be called up to the Torah for his bar mitzvah. “I was afraid that I'd have to miss his important day, and now I’m twice as happy, about the birth and the upcoming bar mitzvah. Hila, 35, has worked at Hillel Yaffe since her internship, and all of her children were born here.
Hila was not alone in the Hillel Yaffe delivery room on New Year's Eve. From midnight to eight in the morning, there were nine births, and there’s more to come.
Prof. Motti Hallak, Director of the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department, is proud to say that 2017 was one of the department’s most productive - almost 4,600 births, a new record for the hospital.
