During the drill, a space was set up outdoors near the Emergency Room, as the area to which all of the departments would be evacuated, if necessary, in the event of a real earthquake.
As noted above, the drill was held jointly with multiple outside organizations, including the local authorities, Magen David Adom, the Israel Police, Home Front Command and the Emergency Department. Furthermore, a variety of external organizations came to observe the drill in order to learn and audit.
At the end of the drill, external auditors praised the hospital, noting its impressive, in-depth and serious preparations for the earthquake scenario.
Dr. Mickey Dudkiewicz, Director General of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, said, “We prepared for this drill extensively to ensure that we are able to respond immediately and optimally in real time. The small earthquakes that occurred in northern Israel last week make it abundantly clear that this scenario could very likely become real. The drill is a tremendous opportunity to check our preparedness and ability to provide an appropriate response. I would like to thank our employees, in all professions and fields, who dedicated themselves to the task in addition to their complex and demanding everyday work.”
