As part of the successful and productive cooperation between the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews and Hillel Yaffe Medical Center for the benefit of the community in the region, this week a Morning of Good Health was held at the Beit Weinberg adult day care center in Beit Eliezer by a team of physical therapists from Hillel Yaffe Medical Center.
The event was held as part of International Senior Citizens’ Month, during which the staff of the Physical Therapy Institute came to the adult day care center at the Beit Eliezer Community Center in Hadera for a special activity, that was very well received by the participants.
At the beginning of the event, there was a lecture about the importance of physical activity, particularly among the third-age population, in the prevention of disease, improving daily function and mood, and lengthening life. The lecture was given by Iris Gronau, a certified physical therapist from the Physical Therapy Service at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center.

Right after the lecture, four stations of activity were set up, where the seniors were asked to perform various exercises, such as standing and sitting from the chair for 30 seconds, standing on one foot, pressing on the dynamometer to measure force, and standing up from a chair, walking and sitting back down. The purpose of the exercises was to assess the physical fitness of the seniors relative to their age and health, with each station checking different parameters such as balance, strength, cardiopulmonary stamina and stability.
As stated above, the response was overwhelming, and the event was defined as being especially successful. Note that this is the second year that Hillel Yaffe's Physical Therapy Service is holding such an event.
