The Hila Program

The Hila Program

Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in conjunction with Edmond de Rothschild Foundation and Friends of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center established a program to develop medical leadership and excellence for outstanding residents.

Along with personal development and promotion of research and clinical excellence, the program will grant the students abilities to handle the ups and downs in the world of modern medicine and changes in the nature and mix of the community the medical center serves.

The program was established based on the belief that development of human capital at the medical center has an important impact on the medicine and quality of care provided to patients. Promoting and developing the physicians as leaders in academia, research, innovation, management and medical excellence will nurture the future leadership of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center.

Objective of the program : To train outstanding medical residents who will be the next generation of physicians, researchers and leaders at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center and to provide them with personal and professional development tools.

Hila is a five-year program, during which the residents in the program are provided with the following support network and guidance:

  • The first two years will focus on learning, growth, creating a personal-professional vision and creating professional and leadership focus tracks.
  • Over the next five years, the focus of activity is on actual work through projects throughout the medical center and in research, along with continued learning and personal development.

While participating in Hila, the students will:

  • Belong to study groups of peers in the program.
  • Be mentored personally by three support systems: the administration of the medical center, mentor and professional advisor.
  • Receive a scholarship to help promote their personal vision in the specific research areas into projects and to promote innovation at the medical center. The scholarship will be paid according to a work plan and according to progress made.
