The well-known phrase – “age is just a number” was even truer in the case of Keisi Muhammad. Keisi, aged 107 and a resident of Baqa al-Gharbiyye, father of nine and who has 90 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, is usually independent and healthy.
Recently, Keisi began feeling exhaustion, accompanied by a slow heart rate. He was brought by intensive care ambulance to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center's Emergency Room, suffering from a very slow pulse. A comprehensive series of tests revealed that he was suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. In Hillel Yaffe’s cardiac catheterization room, Keisi successfully underwent a pacemaker implementation, after which he was hospitalized for further supervision and follow-up and he is expected to be released in the next few days.
Director of the Pacemaker Service at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, Dr. Mark Kazatsker, who performed the procedure, noted: “The patient was diagnosed as having a cardiac rhythm disturbance. The treatment in such a case is pacemaker implantation, so as to regulate the electric disturbance. Despite his advanced age, we decided to perform the procedure and the pacemaker was successfully implanted.”
