From the very first drop

Colorful balloons, pampering gifts and lots of smiles on the faces of new moms - that’s how World Breastfeeding Week started at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center's Maternity Division
3/08/2022

This year, World Breastfeeding Week was celebrated with the theme of “from the very first drop,” and at the medical center, we chose to emphasize the importance of the first days of breastfeeding for establishing good and proper nursing habits (with the help of the department's consultants throughout the division), strengthening the mother-baby bond, and the advantages of breast milk over the first days and in general.

As is the case every year, the staff gave mothers an indulgent gift, including dry fruit, a onesie for the infant saying “I was born at Hillel Yaffe,” wet wipes, explanation sheets about breastfeeding and more.

The Nursing Supervisor in the Maternity Ward, Orly Basis, said, “We do everything in our power to provide new mothers with education about breastfeeding, and respect any choice they make about whether to nurse and how. We know that breastfeeding helps not only the infant, but also the mother - in contracting the uterus, losing weight, reducing the risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer and more. Let me also say that in September we will be holding a frontal breastfeeding conference, after not being able to do so for quite some time due to COVID-19.”
