Hillel Yaffe Medical Center performed microinvasive surgery for the first time, including the world’s smallest and most innovative implant - iStent inject W. This implant, which measures approximately 1/3 of a millimeter, helps reduce intraocular pressure in glaucoma patients, enabling better control of the disease and may significantly reduce the use of glaucoma medications, with their wide range of side effects.

Implantation of the iStent is done in conjunction with cataract surgery and significantly improves control of intraocular pressure as well as the quality of patients’ lives.

Director of HYMC's Ophthalmology Department, Dr. Beatrice Tiosano, said, “We are delighted that we are able to continue to lead in providing innovative and advanced solutions for glaucoma patients. We use the most innovative and advanced technologies in minimally invasive surgeries with a high safety profile, which deliver outstanding results for our patients and significantly improve the quality of their lives.”
