Right before they were about to leave for the holiday meal, Adi and Evelyn Stern of Hadera realized that their third daughter had decided to come early. They changed directions and went to the delivery room at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, on the eve of the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) of all nights. At 7:21 p.m., when everyone was sitting around the table eating and reciting the blessings, they were already hugging their new, vital and beautiful baby daughter, sister to their two children, ages five and three.
“It was a fantastic delivery, without an epidural and with a midwife named Shirel Tal, who supported us wonderfully throughout the process,” said Adi, the new father.

He also said that after the delivery, when both of them were cradling their daughter who was born healthy and vital, the staff discovered that there had been a life-threatening knot in the umbilical cord. “We understood that we had been very lucky with her birth,” said Adi. “Undoubtedly, a wonderful way to start the new year.”
Shirel, the midwife, said, “The delivery was quick and pleasant. Evelyn and Adi are a lovely couple, and this is their third delivery at Hillel Yaffe. Our delivery room was very busy on the eve of the holiday. From our perspective, this is the best way on every shift and certainly on the New Year.
