As we rang in 2024, Hillel Yaffe Medical Center’s delivery room was filled with new mothers and newborns. One of them, Chanel Shuker of Harish, gave birth to her firstborn, a daughter at 5:40 a.m., via spontaneous delivery, and weighing 3.920 kg. She gave birth with the help of Hillel Yaffe's team of midwives, which as she described made her feel that she was in a warm, embracing environment.

“My due date was December 31, 2023,” said Chanel. “My water broke in the afternoon, and I went straight to HYMC’s Obstetrics ER and was taken to the delivery room. My baby, however, was actually born in 2024. My little girl evidently waited to ring in 2024, which I hope will be better than 2023 and bring calmer and quieter times, with happy news.”
She further said, “It was clear to me that I would have my baby here. My mother had all my sisters here, and my sister gave birth here too. Beyond that, the midwives who helped me, Henia Guetta and Rasha Awissat, were so warm, dedicated and professional, and I had a wonderful childbirth experience. I’d like to thank the entire staff and wish all of Israel a wonderful year.”
