Due to the growing demand, Hillel Yaffe Medical Center’s Gynecology and Obstetrics Division's Ultrasound Unit has expanded its hours for prenatal screenings
20/05/2024

Nuchal translucency, first trimester screening, second trimester screening, fetal echocardiogram - we welcome pregnant women to have all or some of them done at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center’s Obstetric Ultrasound Unit by the finest physicians in the field and using the most advanced equipment. The unit has recently expanded its work hours for prenatal screenings due to a growing demand.

This relates to the variety of common prenatal ultrasound tests: nuchal translucency, first and second trimester screening as well as an echocardiogram. Note that the medical insurer provides a payment authorization form (Form 17) for two tests. If a woman decides to have a first trimester screening, it is done privately at a discounted cost.

Prof. Alon Shrim, Unit Director, said, “Prenatal screenings are a service that is a given, and we have provided it for years. Increasing our work hours and lowering the cost for the first-trimester screening, which is not included in the health care basket, are additions required for the benefit our expectant mothers.”

Along with nuchal translucency and prenatal screenings, the unit obviously continues to successfully provide additional services, which have been the focus of its work for many years: diagnosing defects and addressing the needs of physicians in the community when follow-up of findings is required or when there is a suspected finding in the prenatal screenings.

“As part of the extension of the hours during which we provide prenatal screenings, we clearly also perform the first trimester screening, which is not included in the health care basket,” said Prof. Shrim, “but it is provided at a significantly lower cost. We believe it is important to provide all the options necessary to monitor pregnancy, and all the specialists in the unit provide a professional response, bringing a wealth of experience in this regard as well as to all the other services the unit provides.”
