The ceremony was held in the courtyard in front of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center’s inpatient buildings and hundreds of the medical center's employees attended, with all of them holding yellow flowers.
The ceremony opened with a moment of silence in memory of those who were murdered as well as for the fallen. Then, HYMC Director General, Prof. Mickey Dudkiewicz, spoke and referred to the 101 hostages who still need to be brought home. He also emphasized that our people stand united.
During the ceremony, Noa Levi, a survivor of the massacre on Kibbutz Kissufim, shared her personal story of survival and that of her family with the audience. She related how she and her three children spent long hours in their safe room, when right outside their home, dozens of terrorists were shooting in every direction, slaughtering her neighbors and burning down homes.
At the end, the hospital’s rabbi, Dovev Bindiger, recited a prayer for the wellbeing of our soldiers and security forces, the speedy and safe return of the hostages, and for the State of Israel. After the singing of Hatikva, memorial candles were lit and yellow flowers were placed around them, intertwining memory and hope.
