Dr. Gal and Dr. Younes replaced two long-time directors at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center who retired - Prof. Yael Kopelman, who served as Gastrointestinal Institute Director, and Dr. Ronit Rachmilevitch, who served as Internal Medicine C Department Director.
Dr. Oren Gal started out at Hillel Yaffe in 2011 as a senior specialist at the Gastroenterology Institute. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Technion in Haifa with honors. Gal performed his residency in internal medicine at Carmel Hospital and did a fellowship in digestive and liver disease at Rambam and Rabin Medical Centers. In 2016, he was named as Deputy Director of Hillel Yaffe's Gastroenterology Institute and was later appointed to the position of Advanced Endoscopy Unit Director. When Prof. Kopelman retired, he served as Acting Institute Director until he was awarded the position by tender.
Dr. Said Younes also started at Hillel Yaffe in 2011 as a specialist in Internal Medicine D. He completed medical school in Budapest, Hungary, did his residency in internal medicine at Carmel Medical Center and a fellowship in rheumatology at Bnai Zion Hospital. In 2015, he was named Deputy Director of Internal Medicine D at Hillel Yaffe and, in 2018, was named as Rheumatology Unit Director. After Dr. Rachmilevitch retired and he was awarded the tender - he was named Internal Medicine C Director.
