Important announcement for women with fibromyalgia: starting next month, therapy and instructional groups for women aged 20-55 who have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia will be held at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center. The sessions will be led by Pain Unit Director, Dr. Ayelet Midbari, and osteopath Noam Nissim, in collaboration with the Pain Clinic and Physical Therapy Service.
The decision to hold these highly focused sessions was made due to complaints and difficulties reported by patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia. "As a pain physician, I meet many women who suffer from this 'invisible disease’ every single day. These are women whose tests show no findings, who are repeatedly told, 'You're fine - it's all in your head,' who feel they're a burden to their family physician / rheumatologist / orthopedist / husband, etc. Despite the pain, lack of sleep, and constant fatigue, they have no choice but to continue with their daily routines and juggle work, raising a family, keeping up with the tasks at home, and more," said Dr. Ayelet Midbari, Pain Unit Director at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center.
This is a series of 12 weekly sessions to be held at the hospital on Thursday mornings or Tuesday afternoons. The meetings go hand in hand with an interactive app that makes it possible to receive daily feedback and monitor patients closely.
"Our objective is for the women to adopt habits that have been proven effective in treating fibromyalgia syndrome to improve their quality of life despite the disease," stated Noam Nissim.
