An extraordinary community event took place this week at Kaplan School in Hadera, where hundreds of parents, children and staff members alike gathered to mark the events of October 7th and the Iron Swords war. The event, which wove a moving connection between memory and hope, was a fundraiser for the Nitzan Center - a therapeutic-rehabilitative center for trauma victims jointly operated by Hillel Yaffe Medical Center and the Sha'ar Menashe Mental Health Center and established in memory of the late Nitzan Shesler, who fell in battle in the southern Gaza Strip in January 2024.
Nitzan's parents, Perach and Erez Shesler, participated in the event, sharing their son's story and spirit with the community, and thanking everyone for the moving initiative. Also in attendance were Mr. Moshe Morag, Chairman of the Friends of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center Association, and association representatives, who committed to matching all donations collected.

During the event, parents and children participated in therapy-based workshops, touching on topics of mental health, resilience and creativity.
"The Kaplan community has proven, yet again, that it knows how to transform pain into hope, and hope into shared joy," said school principal Lital Garbatz-Tzvi. The school staff praised the community for both coming together and showing such generosity, as well as thanking the older students who volunteered to help during the event along with the wonderful collaboration with the Friends of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center Association.
