The report, which covers 2023-2024, reviewed a wide range of diverse topics. Almost all benchmarks show improvement for Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, despite the fact that recent years have been complex and challenging, both in terms of heavy Emergency Department loads and budgetary constraints.
The most impressive achievement was recorded at the hospital's "front door” - the Emergency Department (Emergency Room). In approximately 65% of cases surveyed, patients were examined by a physician within one hour. This figure exceeds the national benchmark of 50% and is even higher than for hospitals defined as super-centers.
The Pediatric Emergency Department (Pediatric ER) also demonstrated outstanding performance, ranking among the top four in Israel. 85% of children were discharged home within less than four hours, reflecting the staff’s ability to maintain high standards of care even during peak winter months. • In the surgical field, the hospital achieved a significant national milestone - it is ranked 10th in Israel in the weighted efficiency metric for operating rooms and catheterization laboratories. This demonstrates optimal use of existing infrastructure, an area Hillel Yaffe has been steadily expanding and strengthening in recent years.
The report also highlighted Hillel Yaffe's commitment to the elderly population and patient safety in preventing functional decline in the elderly (acute geriatrics). The hospital received a score of 100% for reporting processes in this area. In addition, the report noted the hospital’s strong investment in staff wellbeing, including preventing burnout, upgrading staff rooms, providing night meals for duty staff, and more. • Beyond clinical excellence, the hospital is working intensively to implement advanced systems to ensure the security of clinical records and enhance patient safety in this critical area.

Hillel Yaffe Medical Center. Excellence and significant improvement in Ministry of Health benchmarks
Alongside its achievements, the center still faces challenges related to patient experience due to the physical conditions in some departments - an area where medical center management is constantly working to improve through ongoing construction and infrastructure renewal. This year, new and advanced delivery rooms were opened, along with the Women's Health Center and one of the most advanced eye institutes in the country. This is in addition to an advanced Oncology and Hematology Center, which will be further expanded in the coming year with the opening of the PET-CT Institute, providing comprehensive care in this field.
Prof. Mickey Dudkiewicz, Director of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, said, "The impressive data appearing in the report are a direct reflection of the uncompromising commitment of our teams in every respect: professional, service-oriented and logistical. The outstanding progress we have made in operating room efficiency measures as well as our leadership in cybersecurity and pediatric emergency medicine proves that medical excellence, compassion and integration of new and advanced technologies are at the heart of the hospital's work. We are constantly working to improve infrastructure. Construction continues on the new missile protected building that will include protected hospitalization, an emergency room (emergency department), operating rooms and inpatient departments. These efforts are all intended to improve the experience of patients and health care practitioners alike. We continue to invest substantial resources at all times to ensure that every resident of the area receives the best treatment under the best conditions."
