"Within the first few hours following the announcement of Operation Roaring Lion, our delivery rooms were relocated to a protected facility that operates exactly as it normally would, with the full labor and delivery team doing everything they can to make the experience as comfortable as possible for women," explained Dr. Haim David, Director of Obstetrics and Delivery Room, and Tania Levi, Delivery Room Charge Nurse.

Here are seven things our staff wants you to know so you feel safe when you come to have your baby at Hillel Yaffe:

  • The delivery rooms at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center are located, as mentioned, in a protected above-ground structure. Location: at the entrance to the Pediatric Emergency Department.
  • The protected space offers the full range of services for the comfort of the women, just as in normal times at the permanent new facility, including complementary medicine, use of nitrous oxide (laughing gas), and more.
  • If you are scheduled for a cesarean section, or if an emergency cesarean section is necessary - all our operating rooms are protected and fully operational during wartime.
  • Newborns are admitted to the NICU building, which is also fully protected (even in normal times) and is close to the Maternity Department.
  • If you are experiencing pain, bleeding or anything unusual, come in for a medical evaluation at the Gynecology and Obstetrics Emergency Room, which is also located in a protected area, near the hospital entrance.
  • We are currently offering virtual tours of our delivery rooms, so you can see and learn about the birth experience at Hillel Yaffe without leaving home. Registration is required, but free of charge. Details and registration here >>
  • If you are feeling anxious about your upcoming birth, our team of midwives would be happy to speak with you and create a personalized birth plan. We have midwives trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), who can guide you and help you come in to give birth feeling calmer and more confident.

Even during these challenging times, our Maternity Division staff is here for you, to support you and provide you with a safe and positive birth experience. Please reach out to us at: [email protected]
