Hillel Yaffe Medical Center recently opened a new Obesity Clinic. The clinic, which serves adults over the age of 18, is staffed by a multidisciplinary team that includes a physician specializing in endocrinology and diabetes, a nurse, a clinical dietitian and a certified exercise consultant.
The clinic provides diagnosis and support for consistent, safe weight loss and health improvement through the development of a personalized care plan for each patient.

Dr. Irit Hochberg from the Obesity Clinic at Hille Yaffe Medical Center
Dr. Irit Hochberg, Director of the Endocrinology and Diabetes Unit at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, said, "This is a new service for the Hadera area. It provides a multidisciplinary approach for obesity treatment. It is important to emphasize that treatment with medication is effective, however, every patient who begins this type of treatment should understand that while the medication helps patients change their dietary habits, improving health also requires sticking to a healthy diet and physical activity alongside treatment. If the treatment is helping with weight loss, it should be continued over the long term, because weight is regained when it is discontinued.”
The clinic is intended for individuals with obesity (BMI above 30) who understand that it is a chronic condition and are committed to long-term treatment. Patients should obtain a referral form from their HMO for an initial visit with the multidisciplinary team (code 97802) and a series of three additional appointments with the dietitian (code 97802).
