Expanding the Cardiology Division

This month, Hillel Yaffe Medical Center launched a new cardiology inpatient department with 20 beds, doubling the number of inpatient beds in the Cardiology Division and expanding the full range of cardiology services offered. The expansion follows the Ministry of Health and the Civil Service Commission's designation of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center as a "large" hospital, with over 600 beds. The opening of the new department makes Hillel Yaffe the fifth-largest center in Israel in terms of cardiology inpatient beds.

The director of the new department is Dr. Hezzy Shmueli, a cardiology specialist and graduate of Ben-Gurion University. Dr. Shmueli completed residencies in internal medicine and cardiology at Ichilov Medical Center. He then completed fellowships in structural heart disease, echocardiography and cardiac disease in pregnancy at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, one of the world’s leading institutions in the field. Dr. Shmueli joins Hillel Yaffe from Soroka Medical Center, where in recent years he headed the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. He has published numerous professional articles and participates in scientific conferences in Israel and worldwide. Selected through a competitive process, he joins the Cardiac Division staff alongside Charge Nurse Tali Elitim, who was also appointed through the same process. Elitim previously served as a nurse in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and brings her many years of experience to this position.
