Around 30 high school students from Hadera were brought to the Emergency Room at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center yesterday with severe eye pain, after spraying one another with foam spray, flour and eggs as part of their end-of-year school celebrations.

Dr. Doron Yitzhaki, a physician in the Ophthalmology Department who treated the adolescents in the Emergency Room, said, "Starting in the afternoon, a large number of teenagers began arriving with severe eye pain following the use of foam spray. Some of them suffered fairly significant corneal abrasions and will require longer-term treatment and follow-up monitoring. Fortunately, most of the injuries were mild to moderate, with no lasting damage. All patients were discharged home to continue care with eye drops."
Dr. Naama Kochinsky Cohen, Pediatric Emergency Room Director, said, "Foam spray has become very popular at end-of-year parties at schools. This isn't the first time we’ve seen dozens of young people come in with eye burns of varying severity after using the spray. Fortunately, this time the injuries were mild to moderate, but it should be noted that foam spray can cause more serious burns and even irreversible damage. It is therefore important to be aware that if foam spray is used, you must be extremely careful and wear protective goggles and keep the spray away from the face."
