The Minister of Health and senior representatives of the Ministry of Health from Swaziland, located in southeastern Africa, with a population of 1.6 million, came on a short visit to Israel this week, demonstrating their desire to learn about how the public health care system works and to establish continuing cooperation between the Kingdom and Hillel Yaffe Medical Center.
"Swaziland's relationship with our hospital was born out of the personal relationship I developed with the king of Swaziland when I visited the country two years ago," said Dr. Nimrod Ron, Director of the Orthopedics B Department. "Israel has earned a name for itself worldwide as a country with outstanding public medical services, and even at that time, they expressed their desire to visit Israel and learn from us. I'm delighted that it actually happened this week," he summarized.
During their visit to the medical center, the advisor to the Director General and Chief Economist of Swaziland's Ministry of Health met with Dr. Mickey Dudkiewicz, HYMC Deputy Director, who showed the esteemed guests what is being done at the hospital and welcomed the excellent opportunity to work together. Later, the guests took a tour of the Emergency Medicine Department, trauma room, Medical Sciences Library, and the various hospital departments.
At the end of the visit, Swaziland's Minister of Health, Ms. Ndlela Sibongile Nonozi, expressed her gratitude for the visit by saying, "I truly hope that in the future we will be able to send our experts for further education in Israel and to create a joint consulting interface."
