Serum for treatment of severe dry eye
The clinic operates a “dry eye” service for patients who suffer from severely dry eyes. The service works closely with the Laboratory Division and Blood Bank. As part of the service, a special serum is produced from the patient's blood and administered as eye drops.
The hospital performs the process at very high standards and in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health to ensure the sterility of the serum produced. The process is very simple and similar to taking blood. The serum produced is given to the patient to instill into their eyes at home as instructed by their ophthalmologist. The serum eye drops ease the symptoms of dryness and itching, and enable patients to enjoy better quality of life.
The service is suitable for patients with severely dry eyes after they have tried the standard treatments (lubricant eye drops, anti-inflammatory medications) without improvement.
Hillel Yaffe Medical Center is among the few that offer this unique treatment, which is provided along with close monitoring of the patients.
To receive the service, you will need to schedule an appointment at the clinic and present a payment authorization form from your medical insurer for the clinic visit and production of the serum (Form 17).
