It's not every day that the ambassador of one of the world's largest powers visits an Israeli hospital. Last week, Chinese Ambassador Mr. Zhan Yongxin and his entourage visited Hillel Yaffe to get a personal impression of the hospital's work.
The visit was yet another aspect of the cooperation and friendship agreements between Hillel Yaffe Medical Center and hospitals in China, which began in 2010. Additional diplomats from the embassy joined the Ambassador - the Science Attaché, Press Attaché, and representatives of the China Association for International Exchange of Personnel (CAIEP). Additionally, the hospital administration and department directors as well as medical staff from the Chinese city of Shihezi, who are currently involved in further education at Hillel Yaffe, as part of the exiting partnership.
During the visit, the Ambassador and his entourage were given an overview of the hospital's activity by Dr. Mickey Dudkiewicz, Acting Director General of the Medical Center, and Prof. Meir Oren, the previous Director General. The emphasis was on the hospital's centers of excellence and the existing relations between Hillel Yaffe and civilian and military hospitals in China.
This was followed by a lecture by Clinical Assistant Prof. Itamar Ashkenazi on the hospital's emergency preparedness. The guests then toured the Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Room.
At the end of the visit, Ambassador Zhan Yongxin thanked his hosts for arranging the visit and for the warm reception. He noted that technologies and treatment protocols are not the only focus of learning and knowledge exchange, but also the warm relationships Hillel Yaffe establishes with its patients. He said, "There's good reason why Hillel Yaffe's slogan is - It's all about the people."
