As part of the effort to heighten awareness of home safety and accident prevention among children, the Pediatrics Department at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center hosted a special activity about home safety.
The activities took the form of a colorful and accessible happening, designed for both parents and children. They were run in cooperation with the social worker in charge of the Pediatrics Department, Maram Kaour, and the director of the Education Center, Corinne Weizmann. The happening included a variety of experiential activities about home safety and prevention of accidents that can occur when children are on vacation from school or preschool, particularly in light of summer vacation, which is coming up soon.

The happening was opened with a pantomime performance by the medical clown Vitaly (Vova), who provided an entertaining simulation of possible scenarios of accidents with children that can happen both at home and outside: drowning, choking, burns and more. Then, videos were shown explaining how to protect yourself in various emergency situations and how to prevent accidents at home, the beach, the pool and the like. Additionally, the children received coloring pages and a demonstration was held showing the foods that can lead to choking in toddlers, and alternatives were suggested.
The staff of the Educational Center in the Pediatrics Department, the social work student and, of course, Director of the Pediatrics Department - Dr. Adi Klein worked together to ensure the success of the event. Dr. Klein also opened the day, warmly welcoming everybody and sharing her hope that they learn a great deal. Klein encouraged the parents and children to pay close attention to home safety, car safety, safety during summer vacation and in general.
