Imagine that a month after giving birth you’re invited to a morning that includes a rich breakfast, a massage where it hurts around your shoulders. They also offer a babysitter for the baby and lectures that will provide you with professional answers to your questions about this time after having a baby. That’s exactly what the staff of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center’s Maternity Division did last week during a breastfeeding event, in addition to other enrichment activities that were organized as part of World Breastfeeding Week, with this year's motto being: Breastfeeding - my natural choice.
During this week, inpatients in the Obstetrics Department enjoyed training sessions, lectures and workshops on subjects such as breastfeeding, bathing the baby, pelvic floor and more, all given by the division staff.

The week closed with a festive event, and women who had given birth over the past few months were invited to participate. The event, which was held in the medical center's conference hall, opened with a fancy, rich and delicious breakfast, during which the women and their babies enjoyed a massage by therapists from Hillel Yaffe’s School of Alternative Medicine.
Dina Fainblat, Director of Nursing at Hillel Yaffe, welcomed the women and encouraged them to ask the lactation consultants from the Maternity Division any questions or bring up any issues regarding breastfeeding. She also mentioned the importance of good breastfeeding training, even in the hospital, because the first three days are known to be highly important in the mother’s ability to establish breastfeeding.
Later, the participants who came with their babies enjoyed a lecture on proper breastfeeding and a lecture on the important subject of rehabilitation of the pelvic floor. After a short break, the event continued with a workshop on reflexology and baby massage.
