Last week, the administration of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center met with the Chairman of Friends of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center to accept a donation of NIS 200,000. The sum was given by Ahmed Mawassi, a member of the Friends of Executive Committee, and his son, Faten Mawassi. The donation was made by 30 businesses in Baqa al-Garbiyeh and the surrounding area for a project to renovate and upgrade the Emergency Medicine Department, as an expression of belonging and recognition of the importance of the work of an institution such as a hospital, and particularly Hillel Yaffe Medical Center.
This is a project Friends of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, headed by Moshe Morag, decided to undertake this year. The cost of the project is approximately NIS 5 million. Clearly, the donation of NIS 200,00 is a very respectable sum, which above all else, demonstrates the desire of residents to support the Emergency Room at Hillel Yaffe, which provides services to over 120,000 people annually, most of whom are residents of the region.

“Considering who invested the effort to raise this significant donation, there is no better way to describe this donation and this very dear person than eisen beton [steel concrete], a Yiddish expression that conveys determination, strength and power,” said Mr. Moshe Morag. Dr. Mickey Dudkiewicz, Director General of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, added his gratitude and delight that dozens of businesses had come together to support the important renovation of the Emergency Room.
Mr. Mawassi noted that this would not the end, but only the beginning, and that the entire community that has already donated would continue to donate and support the hospital with any of its present or future needs.
Note that Friends of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, jointly with the administration, has set its sights on renovating, improving and upgrading the Emergency Medicine Department (Emergency Room) to benefit the patients and family members, and to improve the quality of medical service and medicine at the medical center.
As part of this effort, the annual event of the Friends of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center will be focus on a tribute to Hillel Yaffe Hospital by the stars of the culinary world.
