As of November 2018, Prof. Ariel Roguin is the new Director of the Cardiology Division at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center. Prof. Roguin, one of Israel's leading cardiologists with a global reputation in various areas of interventional cardiology research, replaced Prof. Avraham Shotan, who retired.
Prof. Roguin, a resident of Zichron Yaakov, married and father of three, has extensive experience and a very impressive resume; he graduated medical school at the Technion (cum laude) specialized in internal medicine and cardiology, held a research and interventional cardiology fellowship at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, USA, and also holds a PhD in medicine (angiogenesis). Prof. Roguin is an expert in the treatment of stenosis and obstruction of the coronary arteries, particularly in high-risk patients and patients during a heart attack. He has published over 200 academic articles, been a partner in writing books on cardiology and has been awarded a variety of research grants and prestigious prizes in the field. In recent years, he served as Director of the Invasive Cardiology Unit at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.
Prof. Roguin’s plans include expanding the services provided by the Cardiology Division, which will be possible thanks to the extensive renovations currently underway. This includes the future construction of two innovative catheterization rooms and the department is expected to be rebuilt.
Prof. Roguin said, “The combination of a professional and skilled staff as currently exists at Hillel Yaffe, together with new infrastructures and advanced medical equipment, will allow us to promote the Cardiology Division and make it one of the leading centers in Israel.
Dr. Mickey Dudkiewicz, Director General of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, said, “The presence of a leading cardiologist and a leader such as Prof. Ariel Roguin is significant for the hospital, and I’m delighted he has joined us. I’m sure that his positive energy and professional experience will contribute to promoting the Cardiology Division at the hospital and allow us to continue to provide patients with the finest and highest quality care.”
