Still Connected to New Mothers

She usually meets them face to face at her childbirth preparation courses, explains about the birth process, relaxation techniques and more, but with coronavirus and the laws prohibiting gatherings and leaving home, our childbirth preparation courses cannot be held in their usual form.

The Hillel Yaffe Medical Center has recently opened, for the first time, an online childbirth preparation class, free of charge. No less than 55 pregnant women participated in the internet course, in which they could ask questions, get advice, and receive immediate answers. The course was taught by Silvie Ackerman, childbirth preparation course teacher and a certified midwife for the past 26 years.

Silvie, who was forced for the first time in her life to teach a childbirth preparation course on a screen, noted: “It is important for me during the childbirth preparation courses to feel the new mother, calm her, and provide her with practical tools for coping with the pains of labor and childbirth. This is the first time in my entire career that I am teaching such a course online and not face to face. For me this was a crazy and challenging experience.”

And what did the expectant mothers have to say? They were really satisfied and reported that it was professional and interesting.
