History in the Making: The Coronavirus Vaccination Project Begins at Hillel Yaffe

We have all been waiting for this highly anticipated and historic moment for over nine months – the coronavirus vaccine. On Sunday, December 20, 2020, the Hillel Yaffe Medical Center begun its vaccination project, with great excitement on the part of all the hospital workers. First to be vaccinated was the Director of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, Dr. Mickey Dudkiewicz. Immediately after him were the Director of the Infectious Diseases Unit, Dr. Michal Stein, followed by all those at the head of the management and hospital employees. The vaccinations were given meticulously and carefully, with each employee invited at a specific time. There was a very positive response to the vaccinations on the part of the employees, and the hospital has already requested more vaccinations from the Ministry of Health, which has currently supplied each hospital with around 1,000 units. It should be noted that the hospital is also expected to help vaccinate at additional medical institutions in the region.

Director of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center Dr. Mickey Dudkiewicz: “There is record-breaking excitement here. This is a historic moment, both on a national level, and on the level of our medical center. So far, we have fought coronavirus by treating it. Now the preventative stage has entered the picture too, and I am very pleased about that. It is important to understand that the vaccination is an important and vital step in winning the war against coronavirus (COVID-19). I call on all the residents to go and get vaccinated, with the aspiration that we will be able to return to regular life as quickly as possible.”

Dr. Michal Stein, Director of the Infectious Diseases Unit at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center and Chairman of the Society of Pediatric Infectious Diseases: “I am very excited that we have reached this day. This is the victory of science and medicine. The more people who vaccinate and the quicker they do so, the faster will be the return to normalcy. Go and get vaccinated.”
