The ceremony was emceed by Mrs. Dina Fainblat, Director of Nursing at the Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, who was clearly emotional, and who spoke about how Riad had been such a beloved and inspirational figure. Other speakers included, Dr. Mickey Dudkiewicz, Director of the Medical Center; the Administrative Director, Dr. Amnon Ben Moshe; Director of the Orthopedics B Department, Dr. Yaron Berkowitz, and Mila, a nurse from the department – all of who worked alongside Riad during his many years in the department. His daughter, Yasmin, spoke on behalf of his family and brought the audience to tears every time she said the word “Dad”. The staff of the Orthopedics Department, who took part in arranging the ceremony, were also very emotional about her speaking, and the film shown during the ceremony.
At the end of the short ceremony, which, as noted, was broadcast on Zoom, his son, Amir, together with the Director of the School of Nursing, Dr. Merav Ben Natan who also spoke in praise of Riad, awarded a scholarship on behalf of the family to an outstanding student in the Hillel Yaffe School of Nursing, where Riad had taught. The family also donated to the department where he worked and served all his life – Orthopedics B.
