Dr. Michael Medvedev is the Director of the Pediatric Surgery Unit at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center. He has over thirty years of vast clinical experience in general surgery and pediatric surgery, and in recognition of his work and professional excellence, he was honored as a Ministry of Health Outstanding Physician.
Professional background and training
Dr. Medvedev began his professional career as a pediatric surgeon in Russia and Belarus, and after moving to Israel, he began working in the Israeli health care system. He completed his Israeli residency in general surgery at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, where he has served as a senior physician in the Surgery Division ever since.
As part of his continued professional development, he successfully completed an additional residency in pediatric surgery at Meir Medical Center. Since 2023, he has served as Acting Director of the Pediatric Surgery Unit at Hillel Yaffe, and in February 2026 was appointed permanent director of the unit.
Areas of activity and clinical expertise
Dr. Medvedev performs a wide range of emergency and elective surgeries using both open and advanced laparoscopic (minimally invasive) approaches. As a pediatric surgeon, he has extensive skill and experience in performing complex surgeries in children, preterm infants and newborns, including:
