Description

The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science is a comprehensive women's medical center at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center that includes a High-Risk Pregnancy Unit (mother and child), the Obstetrics Department, delivery rooms, an obstetrics ultrasound service, a Gynecology and Onco-Gynecology Department, Gynecological Endoscopy, Urogynecology, Fertility and IVF treatments.

The Obstetrics and High-Risk Pregnancy Department (Mother and Child)
The Obstetrics Department treats all pregnant women, both low-risk and high-risk, and is skilled at early detection of pregnancy complications. The goal of the medical staff – which includes a staff of specialists and a skilled obstetrics staff – is to achieve optimal results for both mother and child.

Placed under prenatal and obstetric monitoring and supervision, women receive prenatal counseling as well as fetal monitoring, ultrasounds and dietary counseling. Monitoring is recommended for women who suffer from pregnancy complications – such as diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, hypertension, etc. Women with a high-risk pregnancy should begin treatment even before they become pregnant.

The Delivery Ward
The Delivery Ward is located in the Maternity Ward and contains two rooms, each with 2-3 beds. The Maternity Ward also includes two ultrasound units. The Admissions Room, where pregnant women undergo initial triage, also serves as an examination room, treatment room and a room to prep women for delivery.

Delivery Rooms
The Delivery Ward contains eight separate, spacious delivery rooms. Each room, which comes equipped with an adjustable electrical hospital bed and state-of-the-art equipment, functions as an independent treatment unit for mothers and newborns, where patients are treated with modern medicine, natural medicine, alternative medicine and conventional medicine or any combination of these. Pregnant women deliver their babies in a relaxed, calm atmosphere with music playing in the background.

Delivery room tours are conducted every Friday at 10:00 a.m. Advance registration is not required. Meet at the Gynecology and Obstetrics ER.

Natural Childbirth
Natural childbirth involves minimum external intervention, encourages the partner to be involved and enables the mother to choose her preferred childbirth position. We offer alternative treatment to alleviate pain such as reflexology, shiatsu and reiki. Alternative treatment, which is provided by the Alternative Medicine Center operating in the hospital, does not prohibit the use of conventional medicine – such as epidurals and local anesthetics.

Zero Separation Service

At the Hillel Yaffe Medical Center Maternity Department, women are offered the option of zero separation. This is a process in which a mother is allowed to remain with her baby continuously from the time of birth through discharge. It is one of the rooming-in options offered, if desired by the mother and depending on the baby’s condition.

Maternal-Fetal Medicine
The High-Risk Pregnancy Department includes 16 inpatient beds for women with pregnancy complications. Maternal-fetal medicine treats pregnant inpatients suffering from gestational diabetes, hypertension, kidney, liver or heart diseases. The women undergo an array of tests – fetal ultrasounds, measurement of vascular blood flow, Doppler, fetal monitoring and a biophysical profile, all of which provide an early diagnosis of fetal health.

Fellowship in the High-Risk Pregnancy Unit

The High-Risk Pregnancy Unit is offering a fellowship opportunity. For further details and to submit a request for a fellowship in the department, please contact the department directly at 04-77444510/5.

Gynecologic Oncology Unit

The Gynecologic Oncology Unit handles all areas of oncology related to gynecology - malignancies and premalignancies, including tumors in women's reproductive organs: in the ovaries, endometrium, cervix, vagina and vulva as well as the various tumors that grow in the placental tissue.

The Unit offers all of the services and treatments a gynecologic oncology patient requires from the medical and nursing perspective, by a team of interdisciplinary specialists, and does so all under a single roof. The service provided in the Unit begins at the stage of investigation and diagnosis, and continues to the required treatment - including surgical and chemical treatments as well as other supportive care through the stages of guidance, healing and follow-up after the disease in our clinics.

The Gynecological Endoscopy Unit
Laparoscopies and hysteroscopies (minimally invasive surgeries) comprise a significant percentage of all gynecological surgeries, including surgery on ovaries, Fallopian tubes, uterine fibroids, congenital uterine defects and hysterectomy via laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH).

Suitable candidates for endoscopic surgery are meticulously selected since not all women and not all gynecological diseases can be treated by this form of surgery.

Urogynecology
The Urogynecological Service offers a wide range of treatments for women suffering from urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and other pelvic floor problems. The diagnostic tests include a complete gynecological examination and a urodynamic (bladder function) test.

Successful urogynecological treatments are those that have been administered following a thorough examination and adjustment of the treatment to the patient's urological condition and gynecological problems. Treatment options, including conservative or surgical treatments, are discussed with the patient based on her condition and wishes.

Fertility and In Vitro Fertilization - IVF
The Fertility and IVF Treatment Service provides complete diagnostic and treatment services to women experiencing fertility problems and menstrual disorders. An ultrasound is on premises to monitor ovulation and to detect pelvic organ abnormalities. Hysteroscopies can be performed on an as need basis. The Medical Center also offers endocrinological testing, sperm testing and artificial insemination using the partner's sperm or donor sperm.

The Fertility and IVF clinics operate together as a single service to perform various evaluations, diagnoses and treatments, including intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), embryo cryopreservation and egg donation.

Ultrasound
The ultrasound is the most effective tool available for producing pelvic organ images and diagnosing fetal health. The test provides the doctor with real-time data and guides the doctor during surgical procedures. The obstetric ultrasound facilitates prenatal diagnosis and early detection of embryonic defects while monitoring fetal health.

Ultrasounds are used in a wide range of gynecological tests such as uterine and ovarian examinations, as a means to detect tumor presence, size and type and to reveal urogynecological conditions.

Ultrasounds are also performed as a preliminary test prior to elective or emergency surgery, to make prenatal diagnoses through various levels of fetal scans in various stages of pregnancy and to detect various fetal diseases.
