The Institute of Nephrology and Hypertension offers services in several fields:
The institute runs the Kidney Disease and Hypertension Clinic for adults with kidney disease and patients with hypertension. The patients undergo diagnostic processes, including a physical examination and, when necessary, kidney biopsy as well. The clinic advises family physicians on diagnosis and treatment of patients. The clinic does not provide pediatric nephrology services.
A second clinic run by the institute is the Kidney Failure Clinic for kidney disease patients with advanced disease who may become terminal and alternative kidney treatment, including dialysis or kidney transplantation.
The Nephrology and Hypertension Clinic provides alternative treatment for terminal kidney failure using an artificial kidney - hemodialysis, chronic home peritoneal dialysis, and preparation for a kidney transplant.
The institute also operates a clinic that provides access to dialysis in combination with vascular surgery and invasive radiology that serves dialysis patients and pre-dialysis kidney patients as part of their preparation for alternative kidney treatment.
The Nephrology and Hypertension Institute advises the medical center's inpatient departments in cases of acute kidney disease, hypertension, electrolyte problems and acid base balance and preeclampsia, including provision of urgent dialysis treatments. Furthermore, consultation is provided to chronic dialysis patients who are in the hospital.
The institute is recognized by the Scientific Council of the Israel Medical Association as a provider of full residency training in nephrology. |
