The Complementary Medicine Clinic at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center provides medical treatment that complements conventional medical treatment and is fully personalized to respond to the specific issues faced by each patient. Therapies range from Chinese medicine, osteopathy, reflexology, reflexology for pregnant women, medical massage, tuina, shiatsu, Feldenkrais and more.

The fact that the clinic is part of the medical center gives it an advantage in its ability to provide a combination of both modern and complementary medical therapies.

The types of treatment provided at the Complementary Medicine Clinic:

  • Chinese medicine (acupuncture)
  • Tuina
  • Shiatsu
  • Osteopathy
  • Reflexology
  • Feldenkrais
  • Medical massage
  • Holistic Swedish massage
  • Naturopathy • Childbirth education classes that incorporate complementary medicine
  • Chinese medicine for women undergoing fertility treatment

Reflexology students also offer clinics as part of the Complementary Medicine Clinic.

The complementary medicine services are not included in the health basket funded by the HMOs and therefore must be paid for by patients. Insurance companies recognize the therapies under policies providing coverage for complementary medicine.

How does the clinic provide treatment?

Admission for treatment at the Complementary Medicine Clinic is done in several stages:

  • The patient contacts the clinic independently or is referred by their family physician or specialist.
  • The therapist selects the desired type of treatment along with the number and frequency of treatments.
  • Throughout the treatment period, the therapist assesses the patient's condition, and ongoing medical monitoring is performed, as required, to examine the effect of the complementary therapy.
  • If necessary, the therapists change the treatment method or add a method to achieve the optimal result.

Operating in tandem to the clinic is Hillel Yaffe Medical Center’s School of Complementary Medicine, which trains therapists in the various disciplines of complementary medicine.
