About the Service

The Occupational Therapy Service is designed to help people regain optimal function in their daily activities – at home, at work, and during leisure – following orthopedic injuries, neurological conditions, surgery and complex injuries. Treatment focuses on improving motor, sensory, and cognitive abilities, adapting assistive devices and teaching strategies to help manage functional limitations due to injury, illness or surgery. Occupational therapy is an important component of the recovery process and contributes to improved quality of life, independence and functional confidence of patients.

 

At Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, Occupational Therapy provides the following services: 

  • Initial evaluation and development of a personalized care plan 
  • Functional assessment • Cognitive assessment and treatment 
  • Comprehensive upper-extremity functional assessment 
  • Activities of daily living training 
  • Splint fitting 
  • Upper-extremity motor and sensory training 
  • Fitting of pressure garments and silicone sheets for scar management 
  • Recommendations for assistive devices 
  • Energy conservation strategies 
  • And more.
